4 TYPES OF EYELINERS EVERY GIRL SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

Eyeliner is a quick and easy way to transform your overall look and every woman should at least have one type of eyeliner in her make up purse. There are four basic types of eyeliner popular on the market now: pencil eyeliner, gel eyeliner, liquid liner, and kohl.

types of eyeliners

PENCIL EYELINER

pencil

This is the most commonly used eyeliner as it is very easy to manage and control. It is often a basic makeup staple, and one especially good for beginners as it’s easy to apply while you develop a steady hand.

Recommended Pencil Eyeliners: Artdeco Couture Khol Liner, Sephora Slim Pencil Eyeliner

GEL/CREAM EYELINER

gel eyeliner

This is a huge favorite especially among women that love wearing eye makeup because it gives the precision of liquid eyeliner without the extra difficulty. Gel eyeliner usually comes in a pot that you dip an angled brush to get the product out.

Recommended Gel Eyeliners: ELF Studio Cream eyeliner, Maybelline Eye Studio Drama Gel Eyeliner, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner

LIQUID EYELINER

liquid

Liquid liner is great for women that want a more defined yet dramatic and precise look. This eyeliner is quite difficult to work with and so many women have given up on it and left it for the professionals.  When perfected however, it comes out beautifully. Tip: For a more precise line, apply liquid eyeliner in short brush strokes close to the lash line and then connect.

Recommended Liquid Eyeliner: Shishedo Pen Liquid Eyeliner, Kiko Definition Eyeliner

KHOL

khol

This type of eyeliner was traditionally used in the Middle East, Egypt, India. While kohl liner resembles pencil eyeliner, it goes on a lot more thickly and is a bit softer in texture. We recommend using a Khol Eyeliner when rocking the smudged smokey eye or goth look.
Recommended Khol Eyeliners: Avon Glimmerstick Eyeliner, Jordana Easyliner
