CONTOURING…ARE YOU DOING IT RIGHT?

Hey guys,

I know many of you have heard a lot and possibly practice the contouring make-up technique which was popularized by  Kim Kardashian. The question however is, are you doing it right?

Here is a chart on how to contour the female face using highlighter, bronzer and blush.

Here is also a special You Tube video from  for darker skinned women who want to perfect their contouring make-up techniques.

Please, I  will advice that this look be worn all the time as it is a bit heavy for every day wear.  Also avoid over doing it with the bronzer as this will give a dirty, muddy look especially for lighter to medium skin. And don’t forget your brushes!

Do you have any contouring tips or techniques you would love to share? Please leave a comment below.

DID YOU SAY COCONUT? THE BEAUTY BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL

Hi guys, It’s another fine Wednesday and I hope you are having a great day. I have tried to think of a post to put up when I realized that I hadn’t done any write-up on the benefits of coconut oil which forms almost 15% of my beauty regimen. Yep!! A whooping 15%. Many of you might have coconut oil just sitting in your kitchen cabinets wondering what you can do with it so I have decided to give you a rundown of the top beautifying qualities of coconut oil.

BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL

HAIR CONDITIONER, HAIR MOISTURIZER AND SEALANT : Coconut oil which is rich in fatty acids is one of the few oils that can both double as a moisturizer and sealant as it penetrates deep within the shaft and provides conditioning properties to weak, damaged and overly processed hair. This oil can also be used as a daily moisturizer to strengthen all textures from straight to wavy, curly, coily and even kinky hair.

MANAGES FRIZZ: This is almost impossible to avoid especially for curly, coily and kinky hair and on humid days. Coconut oil helps to manage frizz on bad hair days.

MAKE UP REMOVER/CLEANSER: Coconut oil is a great option for make up removal as it is gentle on the skin and actually gets the dirt and grim off your face. I have also experimented with using coconut oil as a cleanser and I can swear by this method as it leaves my skin feeling moisturizer and balanced. Would you like to know how I cleanse my face with coconut oil? Send an email to viviannesblog@gmail.com and I will be more than delighted to guide you on application tips and product suggestions/buy.

COCONUT OIL FOR PERFECT SKIN

SOOTHES SKIN CONDITIONS: Coconut is a great moisturizer for all skin types including sensitive skin. It is also known to rid the skin of acne and blackheads and is strongly advised to be used as a night cream over other chemical concoctions as it is known to slow down the aging process and prevent premature aging. Coconut oil can also be used in preventing stretch marks during and after pregnancy.

BEAUTY FLUID: Coconut oil can be used in place of lip balm to soften and moisturize lips and is great in manicure as it helps keep the cuticle soft therefore improving nail growth.

SCRUBS AND EXFOLIANTS: Coconut oil is a great addition to home-made scrubs as it increases exfoliation effectiveness while being gentle at the same time. It is also a wonderful additive to foot scrubs because it has anti-fungal properties. (New post coming soon on home-made scrubs recipes).

D.I.Y SPA OIL: Coconut oil is perfect for massaging the skin and good for aroma-therapy. It can also be used after shaving to soothe razor cuts and burns.

AT HOME SPA TREATMENTS

SUNSCREEN: The natural sunscreen properties of coconut oil prevents burns and injury before and after sun exposure  as it has SPF 13. This however doesn’t mean that you should skip sunscreen (yes, You!).

COOKING:  Coconut oil is great in cooking as an oil with a high smoke point. Great for baking, stir-frys or as a diary free replacement to butter which lowers cholesterol and enables you keep up a healthy body weight. Coconut oil is also rich in Vitamin D and can be swallowed as a supplement.

A TOAST TO A FAMOUS BEAUTY ICON: AALIYAH (JAN 16, 1979- AUG 25, 2001)

Hey guys,

I am doing a post on Aaliyah because I believe she was a great icon in terms of beauty, fashion and of course music to a lot of people including myself around the world.

Aaliyah released hit singles such as Try Again, We Need A Resolution, Rock The Boat, One in A Million and my personal favorite, More than A Woman.

In terms of beauty, no one could have more perfect eyebrows like Aaliyah (yep, I said it)  even as far back as the 90s…. and her complexion? absolutely flawless. She had a combination of edgy street style and great taste for bold and distinct jewelry that was uniquely hers when it came to fashion.

Here is the rundown of some of the best looks ever seen on Aaliyah:

Modern day celebrities to be compared to Aaliyah include Rihanna, Rita Ora, Ciara, Sabi.

Aaliyah lost her life tragically on the 25th day of August, 2001 but will always be remembered.

What other modern day celebrities remind you about Aaliyah? I would love to hear your suggestions.
